What's the Future Possibilities of Trimble Sketchup?

VectorizedJenga

Hey guys, I just realized the Trimble, the GPS tech firm, acquired SketchUp from google this summer. What does this mean? Interact SketchUp with GPS? Any interesting thoughts on this?

Anything that manages to escape the Google/Apple/Facebook technocracy is probably a good thing.

Never was a big fan of SU, except for the fact that it was free. Probably chasing part of the holy grail of BIM.  By marrying the softwares you could have interactive 3d layout and asbuilting integrated with the SU model. SU, IMHO, is a poor choice.  It's not a very good BIM software. Would be a much better workflow to collaborate with Revit. Seems like a poor purchase by trimble. That's my speculation.
