Where is Jack Hillmer!????

mrfletchersevil

Ok so he's dead, but what I really mean to ask is does anyone know of a resource on the web that has good images of his houses? I'd never seen anything of his before until I saw a profile on one of his houses in some book title something to the effect of "signature bay area architects." I found a few pics online of his stuff (really just here http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.chroniclebooks.com/Chronicle/catalog/081184353X/ludekens1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.chroniclebooks.com/Chronicle/excerpt/081184353X-e2.html&h=383&w=350&sz=18&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=nQxB5IjVIOt31M:&tbnh=123&tbnw=112&prev=/images%3Fq%3Djack%2Bhillmer%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26sa%3DN wow long link!) by doing a google image search but couldn't really find much else. I also checked flickr but had no luck there. Apparently he did ten houses and from what little i've seen they look really beautiful. Does anyone know where i can find more pics/info on his work. Does anyone have any pics or a school library with a book about him or something that i could get on interlibrary loan?

Try asking on The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy's discussion forum. Someone there probably knows where to find more information about him.

I feel like I've seen bits and pieces about Hillmer in other books. If you haven't already, you might try Sally Woodbridge's book, Bay Area Houses.

The house pictured in the link above is really mysterious and sublime. I saw it many times while boating in the Bay when I was a child. It's quite difficult to see from the road (above the house).

Good luck!
