I'm planning on sitting for the LEED-NC exam this summer and looking for materials to help with preparation. I've attended a few workshops and done some research on my own. Study groups are an option but sometimes can be costly. My goal is to study for the exam on my own, and sit for it at the end of summer. Does anyone have any good resources (ie. websites, books, powerpoints, lectures...) that will help me prepair for the exam without attending a costly training session? Much thanks.
Sit down and read the LEED-NC reference guide straight through and take notes. Also spend a good amount of time fishing around the USGBC website; there are a surprising number of exam questions taken right off the site. It's not an easy exam, but that should be enough to pass. You really learn the stuff by applying it to a project.

Use the LEED study guide found on the usgbc website as guide to what to study. the credits are only about 60% of the test, the rest is administrative issues about submitting a project for certification and usgbc organizational stuff. you don't have to memorize credits and their names, just understand the intent and how to administer them. Get a usgbc membership number from your office to access the members only sections of the usgbc website.
