To Ph.D students

Hi all,

I saw some discussions about the ph.d programs in USA. I'm now studying arch. theory in MS program in a state-university in USA. I would plan to apply ph.d program for next year (also in this year? not sure), so hope to hear the possibilities in my case; because I have really low undergraduate GPA.

My undergraduate GPA is closer to 2.0, so this always stresses me. This is because I did totally other thing which is not a study on architecture. So I finished in MS program in architectur (outside USA) and also studies the second MS program in USA now. Of course after undergraduate the GPA is good. (But I know graduate GPA don't have a special meaning.) So I'm really depressed of my GPA and not sure whether I could be accepted to the ph.d program.

My interests are mainly focused on ideological criticism on architecture; W.Benjamin, Everydayness, Postcolonial studies, Marxist critic, East-Asian urbanism, phenomenological approach on architecture, etc.

When judging my interests by myself, I hope I could study in east coast schools rather than the other areas; because my concerns are more related to re-interpreting the traditional design issues in historical perspective in the discipline of art/architecture rather than inter-disciplinary studies much shown in west coast. I'm also finding relevant faculty with my research interests, but I even feel uneasy for being pre-screened for my under GPA, especially in case of good schools in east coast.

Could you who studies in ph.d program make some comments to me about the possibility to the ph.d program or relevant faculties/schools?
