I have a possible interest to expand my abilities beyond architecture in the future as a means of security and expanding my range of employment. Specifically I was looking at Master degrees in:
Interior Architecture
Urban Design
Real Estate Development
Integrated Project Delivery
Do any of these, or others, hold any value for advancing oneself after a B.Arch, yet still relate to architecture?
There is a degree option for integrated project delivery?
You can make more money in real estate development. I don't think you need additional schooling or debt to accomplish that, just start applying for jobs with real estate people or read a book or something.
If you're getting a free ride for more education, like parents paying for it because they're independently wealthy or whatever, then go for it. take easy courses. I bet real-estate is easy, so maybe go that route. then get drunk a lot on that source of income you picked up and have lots fun as long as you can! also i've heard people think getting an MBA could help.
don't get a degree in interior architecture if you already have a degree in architecture. or even urban design as far as that goes, they're in the same building. i'm sure some people will point out how important these areas of expertise are, but realistically it's the same degree you already have.
Are you a recent graduate? Working for 5 years will help you sort out what you really want to do with your career, if you wait to go to school, you will have a much better idea of what to study.
Auburn and GA Tech have their version, and I am a recent grad and I am looking for the future like 5 years or so (since GRE last for five years, I'm just trying to plan ahead accordingly for the future before I get too out of school mode for standardized test).
What do you want to do with your career. Some of these fields can drastically change the course of your career.
Real estate + Architecture = development
urban design + architecture = parks design, city planning, policy, engineering
I.D. + Architecture= more architectrue, interiors, lighting design, furniture design
If you have a degree in Arch then more education is a matter of attaining skills that are hard to get in your current professional relm. Everything can make you a better architect but the question should be focused down to 'what direction do you want to take your career'?
