Bridge Design

LIGER

Does anyone know of any firms that work heavily in bridge design and or know of bridges that seem to be pushing the conventional construction of bridges.

My apologies if I'm stating the obvious.
You might not like his designs or methodology but the guy made his famous Zurich - Stadelhofen Station at the age of 32!

do the spanish codes force that husky kind of structure or is it just him? are they earthquake zones or something not obvious? didnt he do 2 bridges in bac? the milwaukee museum too is chunky and looks like an american practice did it. maybe its just his office.

i used to call it elephant loading. the engineers would put double the amount of required load on a structure to accomodate any changes down the line.

Jürg Conzett, a swiss engineer, has made several footbridges that are very interesting from the viewpoint of structural principles, besides being slim and beautiful. There is very little documentation of his work, but AA Publications will have a monograph coming out this autumn.
