Game of Thrones

oe

I'm just making my way through season 1. Did anyone else think the sky cells and the Eyrie in general is a crazy great bit of architecture as story-telling?

yes, i thought it was pretty cool. thats typical of most fantasy and adventure, if you read it.  orson scott card started a story once (forget the name) by drawing a map of a city, with different gates for different people and different events, and based a story around it.  if you want a more recognizable example, lord of the rings (and even the hobbit) involve architecture heavily.  not just for culture, but for plot as well.

thats kind of why i think people read the genre-- you get a whole world that isn't bound by the constraints of reality.

Oops, I thought this thread was going to be about the coming massive shuffling of "thrones" as Columbia, Cranbrook, SCI-Arc, Cooper, CCA, Taliesin, MOMA, RISD et all are all filling director-type positions right now...

Winter indeed. I spent 2hrs on site today and it's only -25C.

Why did I choose to buy cheap & non-insulated steel-toe boots?

Some theory on the cold.  I just hope I dont' start seeing white walker because those things really freak me out.  Probably even more than reptiles. Brrr!
