i have been playing around with the idea of scripting and plug-ins in relation to the way we create and process architecture, and stumbled across the genr8 plug in for Maya.
i have been trying to learn it from the tutorial on the net but it seems very complex and programmer orientated. I'm looking for any tips or links to help me understand this tool better.
its extremely hard to make any sort of concrete relationships in g8. best way to understand it is to be extremely basic. set most settings to 0 and play with only one variable. it also helps if you try to grow your forms in a box or some other constraining envt. that gives you a little bit of control.
for more info try going through some of the Emergent technology and design pages at the AA website.
good luck and dont let it drive you too crazy.

GENR8 is great! Or so the mantra goes. I know this is purely a study of form, but the complexity created with this Maya script is amazing.
Each bleeb was created with one line of code. For example...
genr8 -n 5 -ds -t 4 -a 0 0 4 -r 0 0 1.5 -a 5 0 0 -a -5 0 0 -a 0 5 0 -a 0 -3 0 -ba 180 -g 0 .25;
