3.3-3.5 B Arch GPA

industrial-landsapedesign

Hello, I will hopefully be graduating from NYIT(New York Institute of Technology) next spring. I don't want to apply for a masters degree in architecture or a related field right off the bat, but   want to make sure  I have a decent Barch gpa for 3-5 years down the line(if I apply for a masters degree). In the next 10-15 I may want to teach at a college level(most likely a 2 year community college) and know most schools require professors to have there masters. My current gpa is 3.3. with only 30 more credits to earn, the highest possible I can earn is 3.5. I know portfolio is a major part (luckily for me i'm better at studio than other classes) but, is a 3.3-3.5 gpa good enough to get into a top 10 school? If not is it high enough to get into a top 20 school?

I would be thankfully for any input or experiences you may have had in the subject.

i guess it depends on what you consider a top 10 or top 20 school?

Yeah, you can do it.  GPA matters less the longer you have been out of undergrad, but make sure that you do something interesting in that time, even if it is just on the side.  Of course the better your GPA, the better your chances are at getting in.

I didn't have an architecture undergrad degree, but I was able to get into a top Ivy and top California school with scholarships to both with a 3.3 undergrad gpa 1 year removed from graduation.  I only applied to 3 schools, so I can't speak for most grad programs, but it can be done.
