I was a student at Wellesley College and I've realized that I truly want to study architecture...in europe. Every time I think I've decided on a couple programs - currently leaning towards ETH Zurich and E.S.T.A.B - I hear/read about another.
My interest is design (also furniture design) and architectural theory. I'm looking for any information...especially if you were/are a student at a school - opinions, thoughts, likes, dislikes...
And I know that the best is not necessarily the best (trust me, I left Wellesley). But opinions on "bestness" are not shunned.
From what I have gathered they are both considered rather technical in their approach, especially ETSAB. I've heard nothing but praise concerning ETH... apart from the 50% dropout rate after the first year, and immediate termination of studies if any exam/course is not passed. Hence, brilliant German(and the impossible Swiss-German dialect for seminars/socialising) and a lot of studying is a must. Acceptance at ETH is on a case-by-case basis, but the general requirements are not very stringent. Check out www.admission.ethz.ch
As for ETSAB, then you need to be aware of Selectividad. This entrance examination covers scientific subjects on a baccalaureate(or equivalent) level in addition to Spanish and a foreign language(English, French, Italian or German). The score required for architecture is the highest at the UPC(which ETSAB is a part of).One should also know Catalan if you wish to study there, as it seems to be the preferred language of instruction.
However, given your interests I would suggest KArch, The Royal Academy of Art School of Architecture in Copenhagen or AArch, the Aarhus School of Architecture. They have a very inspiring approach; far less techincal and the students are given a lot more liberty. It seems that AArch has the best reputation out of these two. Still... studying at KArch seems incredibly inspiring as the school is next to the national schools of film, drama, art and dance right by the sea, and next to the brand new opera(by Henning Larsen) in the middle of Copenhagen. For admittance you need to prove your Danish skills and a fairly high average from upper secondary school, or alternatively go through a home assignment followed by a three-day entrance examination. i don't know much about the schools in europe...but i have visited the oslo school of architecture and design in norway and was definitely impressed, an underated gem in my opinion.

I am an Architect, passed from india in 2005. I am presently working in india.
I am interested in persuing my furthure study at DOMUS ACADEMY, Milan, Italy..i want to now about the reputation of the institute. And specially the degree which i am planning to study for. I am planning to go for Urban Management and architectural design.
The other thing i am worried abt is the work scenario after i earn the degree.
How difficult / easy is it to get a work visa after i complete the course.
So guys please happy me in whatever ways you can..
