I am applying to m.arch in the US but I live far far away, so I have not had the chance to visit schools or look at admitted students' portfolios. I have seen absolutely wonderful portfolios by people with architecture backgrounds here but only 1 from a non-arch background. So I have absolutely NO idea where my portfolio stands. I'm way too shy and paranoid to post it online for an open crit, but I'm hoping someone, esp those who are in grad school or have reviewed students portfolio before, will be willing to take a look and give me some constructive criticism.
Can anyone help? I can email a pdf file if interested. cheers
I am available to check it if you want. I've been working in an International Office as a project leder and I was supposed to check cv and portfolios...
although you may be shy, i bet the best place to get feedback would be to actually post a link.,, although most of us are, at least by now, from arch backgrounds, i'm sure we could still look at it.
miss j -- fellow non-arch background (film/cognitive science major), i'll email you mine if you email me yours =P. i'm still not done yet, but hopefully will have a "final draft" version ready for this weekend (my deadline is dec. 15 so it better be ready soon haha). i too am terrified to have people look at it outside of a few trusted individuals, just cause i'm afraid i will get some blank stares and lots of ??? ... which will show me how much left i have to do in clarifying projects for the admissions committee. like, i know everything "looks cool" but does it mean anything? was there actual thinking involved? how can i show where the ideas came from but not be superfluous in the explanation? (etc etc -- sorry for rambling in your thread)
dandee - thanks a lot! i will send you an email when i'm ready.
seopee - i know what you mean. argh it's all so stressful. i guess non-arch people have really different folios and it'd be hard to compare. but i'm worried that the quality of my work is crap. :(
robust84 - i know i know. i am just too terrifed. got very little self-confidence right now.
