where I live..the architecture is very nice, hundred year old warehouses renovated with current interiors and some renovated into museums. also very close to the french quarter.
where I work.... the architecture SUCKS.... there is a sav-a-center and a mall, and fastfood places, and mc mansions. my office is like "happy times" on the show "dead like me".
It's awful. The standout architectural atrocity would be the sewage plant. The downtown portion of the peninsula is being overrun by low cost-low quality developer condos.
The homes uptown are mcmansions in random non-styles. Then there is the a generous sprinkling of mediterranean style houses which makes sense because I LIVE IN QUEENS. And as everyone knows, Queens is the Riviera of NYC.
I lived in the city where mayflower steps are, It's got to have been better than 17C Plymouth although to be fair that was probably a lot more attractive than post war Plymouth (it was bombed).
the local artist mentioned - Robert Lenkiewicz gave a lecture during my PG Dipl in Humane Architecture. His first task was to dispense with the OHP and draw directly on the white walls of the gallery with a charcoal stick (radical), explaining his interpretation through full size drawings. A superb sketcher: a brilliant mind.
84 that was funny but i think you would need a few more proofs of purchase to cover the shipping costs ,, ha

The Horace Trumbauer Architecture Fan Club has no problem with the town they love the architecture of.
Just last night, Horace figured out the surprise ending of his closing speech at the forthcoming convention in his architecture's honor. He told Otto about it, and then Otto quickly advised Horace to get in touch with Frank Lloyd Wright, figuring Frank is the best possible first degree of separation for Horace's surprise to get fully connected.
"How did you come up with that one Horace?"
"Well, I sent the last two days with Raphael, Van Dyke, and El Greco seeing some of THE BIG NOTHING art exhibits, and they started joking about "spending all this quality time together and it's all for nothing!" And then it hit me."
"That's brilliant. I'll definitely make sure this gets to the next degree."
did you expect a positive answer. Is it ever possible to have a bunch of architects actually like the general architecture that surrounds them. I think not....we always want to change stuff. As much as we hate shows like "Trading places" its our nature.

Plymouth is a place I can’t seem to shake off. I’m currently involved in this.

Are you kidding me. I live in Lubbock Texas. Home to the largest privately funded neighborhood razing project to date.
Not to mention all this Spanish renaissance crap on campus.
The only thing cool here is the steel house.
how bout 470 million for Mill. Park in Chicago
i could have built it for $19.99 and two proofs of purchase from Frosted Flakes
jk, it is not bad, just expensive
defenestrator.....do you know of a neighborhood in Lubbok called lortondale? All modern homes from the early 50's
somecriticaly good bad architecture here, but it's mostly whatever.
there's always good and bad.. but how to define good or bad?!
