UCLA open house - Oct 30

Alan

Is anyone going to UCLA's open house this Monday, October 30th? I'm in San Francisco and am thinking of running down Sunday til Monday night to look into their MArchs.

Any suggestions on where to stay? I wont be driving (so screwed) and don't want my weekend to be a mess.

The most affordable and convenient place to stay is the UCLA Guest House (the on-campus hotel) which is about a 2 minute walk away from Perloff Hall (the architecture building). Rates go for about $100 a night, which is very affordable if you can find someone to split it with and they'll let you park there all day without paying for parking. link

Thanks. Are these things worth going to? I rekon it'll be $300 for the day, and that seems pricey. Someone suggested that it's better to apply and then go if you're accepted.

Any thoughts? Also, anyone else going?

I think they are worth going to in order to get an idea of the facilities and to possibly get some ideas on how to tailor your portfolio to the school, but I probably wouldn't go to both this event and the one held in the spring for admitted applicants. I personally only went to the spring Open House after I was admitted since I had to travel cross country to attend, but since you are in-state, it might not hurt if you have any questions on whether or not you want to apply.
