Making the right choice for university

Felice Chap

Dear members of Archinect,

I am a grade 12 student currently studying in Canada, and I'm fortunate enough to get into:

1. The University of Hong Kong (The Faculty of Architecture)

2. The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Architectural Studies)

3. University of Toronto (Architectural Studies)

*and I'm still waiting for McGill's reply

My goal is to continue studying in Architectural Association (AA), Harvard or Yale for Master Degree, and then work around the world.
So, for now, which university should be considered as my priority?

Thank you for your advice!

"Which university" shouldn't be your priority at all.  You could start at Bumfuck U. and with the right mix of talent & luck (some hard work too) still end up a great architect.

Oh, wait.  Sorry, upon closer inspection I see that your goal is not to be an architect but to study at AA, Harvard or Yale and then work around the world.  Unfortunately, studying at the most expensive universities is not necessarily conducive to working around the world.  If you really want spend time working in various offices around the globe then it would probably be a better strategy to minimise your expenses and maximise your flexibility.  Your parents won't bankroll you forever, yo!

um... i cant really comment on the poster's 3 choices, but if you do want to be able to hop around the world at will, having harvard, yale, aa, or any school globally known on your CV will drastically increase your ability for an interview. ive worked in multiple countries. the aa on my cv gets me into many offices that my unknown state school would never get me into. its always the first thing my interviewers want to talk about.

@FRaC: Thank you :)

@James Petty: Thank you for your long explanation, much appreciated :) I agree, AA is a really good school indeed. So, how did you get into AA? How should I equip myself during bachelor degree in order to get in there?

@James Petty: I saw your post that posted 3 days ago about your entrance to Yale! Congratulations!!! It's so kind of you that you share everything with others :) I think I already know how you get in there, thank you so much!
