anyone happen to remember when the City of Chicago started to require the silver coating to a built up roof?
And, while I'm at it, I've just been looking at cost estimating data for built-up roofs, and the seem to depend on some strange unit (sq - not a square foot). Anyone know what it is?
It was part of the energy code... IECC 2004 maybe? (You can do a light colored roof including silver.) Your plans have to be stamped by a registered energy professional. I know one, by the way...

;-)
The sq that you are seeing is probably a roofing square, a unit of area equal to 100 square feet.
