pop-up community centre?

Anna.V

Well, we 've all heard about these pop-up stores that were all the rage (see Dover street market in London) but can this concept apply to other types of buildings?

Lately I have been thinking about this idea of a pop-up community centre. It could be used in rural areas where access to cultural functions is very limited. The building could apadt and change depending on the village location and the type of functions that will be taking place in it.

What do you think?

Most villages or small towns here in the Midwest have plenty of existing buildings.  An interior system with power, ADA restrooms, and entry ramps that can adjust to various door conditions and furniture that can support activities or meetings instead of a standalone building might be a better use of resources.  The community I am working with has a need for meeting space a room with a table for 10-15 people and some desk or corals to tutor students.

although it was intended as a replacement for traditional university campus, for some reason the first thing that came to mind this morning when reading this post was Cedric Price's proposal for the Potteries Thinkbelt
