I am having a hard time choosing between architecture and landscape architecture for graduate studies. I have been interested in architecture for a long time, but only became aware of landscape architecture within the last year or two. Now I cannot imagine practicing architecture without a good understanding of the surrounding ecology and landscape design integrated, and I also do not want to pursue landscape and not have the ability to design structures.
My top choice school is UC Berkeley but since my undergrad is not in either discipline I am not eligible for concurrent enrollment (although I emailed the school to see what my options are).
Any advice? Would one make it easier to study the other?
do a dual if you can afford it, or get into a school that has close collaboration; i recall not being able to tell who was in which (in a good way) for the first year and a half at my alma mater.
I am hoping to do a dual degree, but my undergrad is not LA or Arch and my top choice school only admits dual degree students with an undergrad in one or the other. I emailed them to find out about the possibility of applying to the second once I have started the program, but not hearing much response from anyone at Berkeley right now. Must be too close to finals.
I think you should do architecture first, then MLA. I have an MLA and I will be starting the M.Arch this summer, so for balance in the cosmos, you should do the opposite. Plus you've said you only found out about la recently, so you'll have more time to learn about it. I think architecture at Berkeley would be great to do first. Berkeley had christopher alexander you know.

Thanks.
why not do a dual degree?

Apply to Penn. They have a great dual degree program. If you don't have a degree in either it will take you four years though.
