jasoncross, when it comes to sweaters, I disagree: sweaters, IMO, should not be tucked into pants.

and in skiing terms, 1982 is hardly 'old school'

no luck no luck

I've had a pair of handmedowns from my brother , old northface pants, neoprene or something old n' strechy You see old guys wearing them now- When my bro could wear them he must have been about around 15 so that makes them late 80's .... theyre dying on me and i love that style-

In fact what appeals to me so much about those clothes is that there was just a whisper of tech about them - nostalgo/futuristic .. things were still made with Woool!( tho those pants weren't) but functional as performance gear- now your ziplocked into gortex and and various plastic fleeces...[ 'now' might be misleading, - because , FRO and jansoncross, I was born in 83.].. but that style all my uncles used to rock is tight!

this is becoming too much writing on something kind of insignificant-
but keep the names comming , am googling up all on them .

Oh, but sorry, jason, I missed your point: I also hate to see empty beltloops, ugh, gives me the heeby jeebies.

So let's just reiterate the male fashion guidelines here:

1. If you tuck in your shirt, always wear a belt
1A. If you are wearing suspenders, don't also wear a belt.

2. If you are wearing a sweater, do not tuck it into your pants.
2A. If you are doing a layered look and you just slip the front only of the sweater into your baggy-ish jeans that ride low on your hips a la Brad Pitt, that's OK.

3. No espadrilles.

i think i've tucked in a very thin sweater in the past with less-than-disastrous results. but this must be on a case-by-case basis, i'm sure.

Steven, on you I'm sure it was far from disastrous. And yes the thinner a knit gets the closer it gets to being more T-shirt like, so OK to tuck in. Those spyder sweaters above, though, no way.

no, never tuck in a sweater, not into the front of you pants, not anywhere into your pants...do not tuck in sweaters...especially vest sweaters with a v neck cut (I had a Boss that used to do this *cringe*

My snowboard pants from 8th grade (1990?) are a hot coral-orange-ish-pink-ish color, with flourescent yellow lining.

I am glad I hung on to those.

can i add my 2cents?

1. If you tuck in your shirt, always wear a belt - agree
1A. If you are wearing suspenders, don't also wear a belt.
- DO NOT wear suspenders, lol, unless you're under 18 and a trend follower or a hollywood celeb, eg fergie

2. If you are wearing a sweater, do not tuck it into your pants. - </i>i think guys look good with their sweater tucked into their pants. think ole scheeren</i>
2A. If you are doing a layered look and you just slip the front only of the sweater into your baggy-ish jeans that ride low on your hips a la Brad Pitt, that's OK. -or do half and half

3. No espadrilles. - i didn't know men wear espradilles
