I come from Taiwan and recently i got several admissions in March.1 program. Most of the school's information came from websites and friends, but before i make my decision I would like to take some advices If anyone is familiar with these schools. please help !
Syracuse University +10,000 USD/ first year
University of Washington at seattle
University of Chicago at Illinois
Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT)
University of Chicago at Urbana-Champaign
Currently i'm struggling with University of Washington and Syracuse University.
Syracuse is my top choice it seems to me a strong design program with a balance curriculum. Besides, their study abroad program is strong, too. ( you can apply to study semesters abroad in England, Florence or New York City.) Their facilities and faculties are good. most of the faculties are graduated from good architecture program such as Cornell, Prinston...etc. Im not saying people who graduated from good programs and they're going to be a good professor, too. but, at lease it's a standard.
University of washington has the advantage on its Alumni and their connections to local architecture firms. but im not familiar with their program and their faculties are not as good as Syracuse. All I heard about University of Washington is they are more "practical "
Please feel free to give any comments because you might give me a new perspective to make decision ~~ thanks for reading!!!!
I am from taiwan too and struggling between IIT and UIC!
have you made a decision yet? I know Syracuse University has a very goood undergrad program. I believe it's amount the top ;) I am not really familiar with Syracuse University or University of Washington at seattle!
But I did talked to graduate advisor of UIC and visited the place! and I know for UIC half of the professors comes from UCLA (you know the school they are fairly heavy on the digital...you know that's what you gonna get ) and another half comes from the working field. And just last summer most of their students got summer internship!(dont really know if that helps) and i am sure you have gotten the FRESH MEAT website! http://www.freshmeatjournal.org/ For the second year second semester you can have to option of going to Barcelona, Spain to study Urbanism or stay at Chicago!
Did you ever found out anything from IIT??
