UK television documentary series - ARCHITECTS WANTED!

Kalita

I am currently doing some research into architects (UK based) who might be involved with individuals/ couples/ families who may be about to re-locate and transform a property into their dream home.

Here at Shine Ltd, we are producing a new television series similar to 'Grand Designs', and are looking for people who have recently, or are about to re-locate to a property that needs conversion, renovation, restoration or conservation. Ideally the project is a "dream home". We aim to document the labour of love over the next 6 to 8 months. The idea of the programme is that the people are building a new life - so as well as the building project, it should combine moving to a new area and a change in lifestyle.

If you would like to find out more, please call Kalita on +44 (0)207 313 8088 or email kalita.corrigan@shinelimited.com

THANKS!

There is too much of this type of program on. Cheap to make and totally subjective, it contributes little to quality programming.

Grand Designs, Restoration etc. It's just the same old format with a tweak.

Changing Rooms will always have a place in my heart - near the bottom!

In some randon American home makeover show I once saw 1/3 of a UFO installed to appear like it was crashing through the ceiling into the living room.

I second BOTS. There's too much of that stuff. I'd like to see a documentary that follows an architecture firm for a period of time. I think there's a lot of drama that goes on in architecture firms that would be interesting to watch and it would be a great way to educate the public on what architects really do. There are a few shows running in the US now that are kind of interesting - The Restaurant (obnoxious Italian guy opens a restaurant), Blowout (about a hair salon), Family Plots (about a family run mortuary).

Please don't ask my why I know what these shows are about. I'll take the 5th amendment.

for shame mum. we watched half an hour of the blowout show before i had to turn it off. why would ppl want to come home from a long day of dealing with pricks and watch a show about pricks?

what i think we could use more of are these:

a 3 volume set of dvds (18 1/2 hour episodes).

We could have a program based upon the ER format. We could rush around for deadlines speaking in acronyms. A bit of office romance with the admin staff, a fight with a contractor, complete building failure before the defects period has elapsed. Court room scenes to follow…
