I was hoping some of you knew of some good examples of schools that have been proposed or constructed. Currently we have been looking Cooper Union by Morphosis.
I 2nd Knowlton Hall by Scogin/Elam, and recommend this book - great coverage (including lectures and conversations with students, early sketches and diagrams, material investigations) of the design process...
Is Cooper Union by Morphosis that you mentioned the same project as the Diamond Ranch High School project by Morphosis? I think it's in Pomona, CA and it's relatively new, but I don't know much other than that about this project.
Not sure how recent of a project you're looking for, but Eisenman's Aranoff building for University of Cincinnati might be worth checking out.
The majority of the students hate it though.
another adaptive re-use, university of waterloo school of architecture by stanley saitowitz of San Francisco & the toronto firm of levitt goodman architects
I'm also particularly interested in this school because Thom Mayne said in his interview with Charlie Rose that the school was constructed with the same or similar budget with any typical public school. I thought that that was quite hard to believe and it only goes to show how
"little it takes to be different" Thom Mayne
No plans have been revealed yet but you should check out Milstein Hall at Cornell University, the new studio to be designed by Rem Koolhaas. Supposedly it will integrate with its surrounding buildings.
The web page is in flash and images are not of the highest quality but it's fine on-screen - if anyone knows where higher quality images area available (esp. sections) please let me know. Cheers, GK
hey, for you angelinos, there is this high school being built in silverlake. i use to drive by it on my commute home so i have been watching it go up (very slowly). it is an atypical highschool being built on this wedge lot at the corner of beverly and silverlake blvd. it started out pretty interesting until they painted the whole thing a bright orange-yellow color...eek!
does anyone have info on that project? who, what, where?
does it have to be new? i've always wished i went to school in one of the old perkins & will schools in chicago. School has always been about pride for me and the montrous castles that P&W used to do would have given me that sense. I hated my school for many reasons, the ridiuculously hodgepodge ugly buildings was one of them.

Carl Schurz
Tons of others. Basically, they became school experts. Their stuff today is pretty blah. But if there is one firm with an incredible amount of info about schools, it's P&W. They program their schedules, sports, everything.
Of course, this post is nothing like the others, please disregard if your question was purely about new images of schools, etc.
