Masters Architecture, Part I Riba Exemption?
Hi Peeps
I keep getting the same computer generated gibberish from the Bartlett people, so thought I'd hit up these forums.
I have a Bachelor of Design ( Int. Architecture major) and have 3 years work experience in a variety of projects from office buildings and homes, to interiors.
I would like to obtain a professional masters degree - which actually allows me to quality as an architect in the UK/NZ where I am from.
I'm interested in the Bartlett programme and from what I understand I can apply as an undergraduate for a Diploma ( MArch part 2 riba) which is a 2 year program? Is this correct?
I'm guessing that 3 years work experience plus a related undergraduate degree would not mean I would have to start from scratch?

as a bachelor of design, I would think you are a part 1.
work experience has nothing to do with being classified as part I/II/III. Well.... you need it to write your part III, but thats a whole other thing.
If you've completed an undergraduate degree that's not recognised by the RIBA, the Architects' Registration Board require that you undertake their "Prescribed Examination" to ensure your degree meets their standards. Its pretty expensive (a couple of grand i think) and they are very particular. Like James said, as you did a Bachelor of Design w/ interior arch they may say you missed out on parts of the curriculum or something. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
