UCLA summer program

ek

just curious if anyone on here has done or been otherwise involved in the ucla summer architecture intensive, has thoughts about the experience or the usefulness of the session {e.g. for someone with a nonarchitecture b.a.} or ucla arch in general? i'm heading {blind} to this session in summer and am interested in hearing most anything on the subject.
thanks.

blindly heading to the summer program, as well.

though i am an undergrad at UCLA, i am very unfamiliar with the program, particularly the summer atmosphere.

BUT there was a post about this recently..

yes, it is a good idea as long as you are serious about it and ready to WORK. it will also help you develop your portfolio/application if you are interested in applying to a professional bachelors program.

I'm enrolled in this program and I'm a bit peeved that they haven't posted a schedule up yet so I can't plan my work hours. Can someone who's been through the program before tell me around what what time classes end each day?

And out of curiosity, how hard do they work you?

Thanks.

i think that's for last year. on ursa only one class has been scheduled.

the schedule will probably be similar as the program was revamped last year, which was the first year it was known as "jumpstart".

it's not a matter of how hard they work you but how much you are willing to work on your projects. there were several students who invested a lot of time on their projects and others who did not, it's entirely up to you.

good luck, deshi. i had a blast but your own experience will be largely based on what you make of it.

Of course right after I complain about something the schedule comes out. I'm in section B, does anyone in section D want to switch with me? I have conflicting classes.

Thanks in advance!

hey skeerd, out of curiosity, was the design studio part of the program required everyday? I only ask because I'm trying to take a class that has a conflict with design studio on thursdays so I'm trying to see if I can possibly miss that portion of studio.

design studio is the most important part of the whole program, imo, and i would avoid missing it. the actual studio time is for desk crits and feedback from your studio instructor so it is pretty important. also, you'll probably be in the studio for a lot of the "free" time that is on the schedule
