MArch I - RISD vs Syracuse vs UC Berkeley

m3tropolis

I applied to each of these schools (among others), each for different reasons. I have searched through Archinect and other sources, but I still find it difficult to determine my order of preference. It is difficult to say exactly what my career goals are at this point, but I am interested in research and teaching.

RISD - Being in an art/design school setting is very attractive to me - I was a sculpture minor when working toward my BS Arch (often considered pursuing a teaching career in art). I can't find many examples of student work, and the MArch program is taught within the undergrad courses - can't find much about the graduate program's reputation.

Syracuse - from what I can tell, a strong program and balanced curriculum, with great study abroad programs. Seems to have numerous aid opportunities, but again, haven't found much on the graduate program's reputation.

UC Berkeley - was suggested by a previous professor after reviewing my work. According to him, a great school, very competitive. The program is less expensive and only two years in length. A dual degree, MArch + M(5 options), is possible with only one additional year of study... but, also haven't  haven't found much on the reputation.

thoughts on these MArch programs?

Don't you have to...get into the programs first?

Also, what type of research and teaching are you interested in?
