Civilization is a framework within which to maintain and celebrate love. Love being a mutual recognition of what is good that exists within one another's humanity.
Fucking and partying can certainly help one recognize these ideas, as can doing good work. The goal is to strike a balance.
That being said, next time around I want my dog's life.
i duno. having lived in a house with no running water in the middle of winter (in canada!) i gotta say that using an outhouse when its friggin -40 is not something to aspire to.
the nicest thing about civilisation is that it can be left behind if you want to, but that it is still there when you are tired of playing at purity...;-)
or...it beats the alternative. seriously. anarchy and the rule of nature suck so bad it ain't funny.
silverlake maybe it's actually more civilized to have concern as to how your steak got on your plate?
Which reminds me jasoncross you posted a pic of you catching a huge fish once, yes? Did you eat it? Must be satisfying. (no snarkiness here, I'm being serious)
...is perceived justice, or the threat of punishment. at best, we go along to get along. at worst, we toe the line. We choose government to propogate this system.
I don't think jasoncross is wrong. failure in waste management (clean water, sewage, garbage removal) would probably be a catastrophe event where citizenry is abandoned. London streets after one weekend night is noisome enough.

The value of civilization is:
Someone remind me again?
Or is it the consensus view that were here to fuck and party?
I wanna come back as a yeast cell- just eat, reproduce, and when its all over, you're the life of the party......
Fuck and party it would seem. Man that hippie movement got skewed.
I want to be a hermit.
not having to live in piles of shit is a plus.

PS LOL at your post, jasoncross!
: is what we first aspire ,then will, then attempt to make it.
There is no victory or loss in that effort ..not even the outcome..just the nobility of the attempt/s matter in the end.
:)
thats what someone who hasn't had victory would say nevermore.
good luck with that. ;)
mhollen..victory is a process, a path..not a goal that you have to "reach" or to have "had".
( IMHO )
You dont pluck out your eyes after you've realised your "visionary" building.
You envision something higher.
thanx for ur best wishes. :)
i agree with your last post nevermore. it differs from the first...
I can have a yummy steak and not worry how the meat got onto the plate.
i can't waint until the '80's are over (again)
