Politics of Fabrication:
Challenging Political Expression in Little Havana
Architectural Association of London
This exhibit showcases work by several students from London who visited Miami in 2010. The students have identified in Little Havana a pervading logic of city space privatization that has lead to an increasing tension between individuals and groups with different cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds. Exploring this particular matter, the students’ work aims to show the importance of public space as the necessary area of encounter, interaction and negotiation between these different ways of living, and recovering its political value in a contemporary American metropolis.
