My wife and I have two day long layovers in London on our way to and from Greece next month. It's been about a decade since either of us have been there. Any suggestions for how we should waste a few hours/what is really worth seeing?
If it is art/architecture you are after, then one place to head for would be Trafalgar Square, freshly paved and re-planned, with new art galleries either side of the National Gallery (National Portrait Gallery is manageable and interesting). Then Southwark and the new Tate Modern is another great destination, in the old Bankside Powerstation, opposite St pauls Cathedral, with Foster's Millennium 'bouncy' Bridge linking the two.
