"The whole Brad saga is the affirmation of architecture's obsession with fame. Diva = Zaha, Rock Star = Rem. All you need to do is to attend any of the lectures that Zaha, Rem or Peter gives and see how students react. At the sight of these starchitects, they all gasp and gawk, flick out their cameras and phones and go into a frenzy."
Tyler you are really naive, most professionals, or rather most people are obsessed with fame, one way or the other. its a human tendency, not just architects.
10.
people taking things too seriously (self-importance)
people not taking things seriously enough (dumbasses)
you're not God's gift to the universe, you're a g.d. dispensable piece. but, neither are you a monkey, happy to grunt your way through an ignorant life of mindless earthy pleasures.
if you can't hold these two concepts in your head at all times and shift between them nearly instantaneously, you are boring. at one extreme, you're a boring prick, at the other, a boring dumbass.
Desire for Fame is NOT a natural human tendency...
There are many creative individuals who want their work recognised not for "fame" or glamour but because they believe in the inherent value of their creations.
Thats the difference between them and the wannabes.
i didn't think sameolddoctor was talking about desire for fame so much as a fascination with fame as a phenomenon. in that case, i think there is a natural interest.
i also agree with nevermore that desire FOR fame is not as universal. some people want to be invisible...
Whenever I see a "so called famous" person.. i never give them too much importance. almost to the extent of displaying a sense of ignorance of their presence.
it's as if I wanna convey a message that, "nothing they've done has impressed me so much, that I should take note of it"
I know, it's boderline arrogance. but when I do it I don't even realize it. it's all subconcious ..
hmm, i wonder what students ten to fifteen years ago would have been bitching about ...
1. all this deconstructivism stuff is just bullshit
2. please just let michael graves stop designing horrendus buildings and go work for target or something
3. i know that eisenmen thinks that a column is not a column, but you know what, it is a column, asshole
What are you defining as deconstructivism? I think you could pretty easily lump everything good in the last 20 years as taking deconstruction influence.
I'm so fucking bored of...

Being bored of everything is a sign of 'spoiled brat' syndrome.
is starchitect / brad pitt worship / ridicule boring, or a response to boredom? isn't it really just entertainment?

4. who is this phylis lambert, and the mask of medusa.....? IT's NOT A MASK, HOSER!
