or it could be the cathedral of saints peter and paul out one window in front of me, the sf bay and alcatraz out another to my right, the coit tower out the third, and of course downtown sf to my left.
22 foot ceilings, yellow walls, purple fireplace, worught-two 2'x4' windows, skylight over vigas (wooden pole beams), fresh double-shot americano sitting in front of me.
The things i like:
1. The beautiful sunlight that comes in from 3 sides of the office
2. The foliage that i can see from my side window
3. The office dogs
4. The people
What i dislike:
1. The work
2. The stupid dell computer that my co-worker uses
late blooming sakura trees are still pink just outsude the window and everything is getting green real fast. the highrise housing block beyond all that aint the most beautiful...
but inside i am happy to be working on a hige desk with my laptop and there ain't a wall or partition in site. 50m2 just for me to think in...love it.
that in 3 weeks i shall be out of here and into our new office, 4.5m embossed metal ceiling, loads of light from huge windows that on one side look into a modeling agency and the other side into the beer garden of a pub that stocks an impressive collection of imported german and belgian beers.
right now i'm in my kitchen. i like my kitchen. but i'm late for work, where i'll be in a too-dark 7' ceiling room for the next 4+ hours before lunch. better scoot.
oh, aspect: my kitchen has orange walls and my computer is sitting on a rolling stainless steel top table. the early morning sun is casting shadows of the house roofline across the back yard. birds are chirpin'. you get the picture.
i'm surrounded by paper...every wall in my small 10x12 office has some kind of paper product shelved...from 20 year old faded blueprints to magazines to cardboard models...we have about 200 sets of construction documents in this tiny office of mine...17 boxes of photographs and each box holds about 200 prints...etc...
Mdler- if your taking a yoga break in the middle of the day, drop in and say hi. We're a little low on the staffing side in the LA office these days and a new face is always welcome... that goes for other archinectors, too.
What is your favorite aspect of the space you are in RIGHT NOW?
I'll start first. The view on the window, isolating a beautiful old tree from the surrounding landscape.
the black dell keyboard that goes so well with my two black dell monitors (mismatched one LCD one CRT) and the lovely black dell desktop.
dude! i got a dell!
it is so white and bright - the lights make me see funny. but i feel like im in bladerunner, and that's awesome
my iPod.
or it could be the cathedral of saints peter and paul out one window in front of me, the sf bay and alcatraz out another to my right, the coit tower out the third, and of course downtown sf to my left.
i can see the hotel where i used to work. ha!
22 foot ceilings, yellow walls, purple fireplace, worught-two 2'x4' windows, skylight over vigas (wooden pole beams), fresh double-shot americano sitting in front of me.
The baby blue woven cubicle walls with clustered memos and such strewn about held by plastic thumb tacks. Man I am looking forward to Grad School.
amen to that. but i have to wait a year...
It's quiet.
likes: long narrow space with lots of pin-up options and desk surface, two walls of windows; it makes me feel like i'm working assembly-line style
dislikes: being able to hear my studio-mate's music over my own
I got great ducts and florescent tube lights by the uber architect - richard neutra...
... Can somebody help me post an image from my desktop? or am I limited to finding pics pics the web, like this one of the outside of our office
Our office is in LA...so,

horizontal band of windows looking out towards the sea
freezing cold room with an endless sea of ibm computers... ughh i just want to go home!!
The office fish sits at my desk, I can watch him swim all day.

I had the window open earlier today and listened to my todler playing outside, that was pretty good.

there's an exit door with my name on it...
the models next to me, and the music surrounding me
natural light.
The diner booth-iness.
Since it's dark now, the way my light hits the ceiling and walls and the shadows it creates.
Also really liking the groove salad music right now.
nothing !! ...
just loads and loads of contractor's shop drawing ( still left for me to reveiw!!)
My red couch. Just brightens up the whole room.
great view of the underwhelming LA skyline.
my liqueur cabinet is on the other side of the space.
treekiller, thats the old neutra office in silverlake, yeah? who's in there now?
I thought it was Neutra's son Dion, did he close up shop recently?
right now i'm in my kitchen. i like my kitchen. but i'm late for work, where i'll be in a too-dark 7' ceiling room for the next 4+ hours before lunch. better scoot.

the glow of the sun as it moves across the loft walls, 20ft off the ground - very pretty
It's before 8am and nobody is here yet so I can post on archinect while slowly get all my voice messages answered.
the glowing screen of my macbook pro reflecting off my opaque glass table.
It is equipped with an exit.....

it ads some drama to the whole scene.
[hotel room]
fresh air.
hmmm, does treekiller work at EEK, by anychance?
yeah, nothing good at this particular location.
The cat.
shhh..... it's a secret that EEK has taken over the body of dion.
my favorite aspect of it is that the clock says 5:08 and tomorow is a holiday
treekiller,

Mdler- if your taking a yoga break in the middle of the day, drop in and say hi. We're a little low on the staffing side in the LA office these days and a new face is always welcome... that goes for other archinectors, too.
the view of the lagoon if I turn around and look out the window.
right now it is surprisingly cold and raining though . . .
my yellow 1960's peugeot racing bike, looking at it lit in the light of my screen, while i surf ebay at 3 am shopping for components.
triathlon bars and new brakes coming soon!
rats, and people smoking hookahs.
Yes, I am in the studio.
