SOM *shivers* Use sketchup. The real reason Autocad has a stranglehold with architects is because they asked engineers for advice on computer software. No Autocad are going to control their file formats so you will only be able to opne them with the latest version of autocad, also the next version of autocad has copied ideas from sketchup.

hey, RNNR, how often do you see a perfect sphere in real buildings?

fair enough, but how about anything with compound curvature?

and yes, i know compound curvature makes a developable surface difficult... my issue is that the software seems to sidestep many things for the sake of efficiency. in my opinion it is just as easy and intuitive to use rhino, and it can make about anything imaginable PLUS scripting

back to the issue of the MacBook - from the looks of it, BootCamp should allow me to run rhino etc. on a beautiful, powerful, and relatively affordable new computer -- any insider info on openGL issues?

"I say, give it 5 years and the mac as we know is will be gone, they will just make hardware."

Yeah apple's software's pretty irrelevant, ITunes, IStore, Final cut pro, quicktime, who ever uses this shit? Plus their ability to turn out new innovations and cross-application features to thier OS on on a constant basis while Windows takes only oh about a decade to release, longho- vista whatver is not impressing anyone.

I love this mac hater 5 year shit, it's kinda like the soviets with the 5 year plan. All hail Gates!!

spheres in sketchup are not problem, if you make them you don't know enough to criticize. SketchUp has Ruby Scripting, as well.

To whomever was asking about rhino/bootcamp:

I've got rhino running on my macbook with bootcamp / XP pro. It runs fine in openGL Hardware Acceleration Fast (00) mode.

i heard that non legit copies of 3dsmax do NOT work because everytime the computer restarts, it tries verify the license ... it's copy protection. not that i am trying to say that anyones 3ds max isnt legit........

so worth it.
rhino run beautifully minus some awkward nuances with the keyboard that i'm sure could be fixed somehow if were not this lazy.
problems iwth the display drivers are past news, i've been running city of villains on it and it runs ten times smoother than on any of my old computers.
definitely worth the price.
