why M.arch?

swisscardlite

I know getting a M.arch won't necessarily raise the salary by much. so why do people then get a M.arch after they get a B.arch unless they want to teach? isn't that just going to leave you with a ton of debt?

There are so many reasons, like;
just for the school name, impress future clients, to learn more about architecture itself, tired or depressed by reality, to get some teaching job, for personal satisfaction, to gain more knowledge in specific aspect in architecture... etc. etc.

1. because in most states its a requirement for licensure

2. because, in my mind, academia is analogous to a gym for the brain. every book you read, every project you work on, and every new concept you explore, will increase your mental agility, which in turn will help you not only as a professional and as a thinker, but also as a man.

le bossman,

NO states require an MArch for licensure if you already have a BArch.

ah yes. the thread is "if you already have a BArch." i see now. however, everything in number 2 still applies, and that was the important one.
