3D models of cities

Pimp Minister Pete Nice

Does anyone know or could offer a suggestion on where to get a 3D model of Cincinnati, OH? I tried city hall but there is one guy there that knows how to use Cagis - which doesn't help because Cagis is only 2D and I already have that information from Cagis.

Thanks for any help here!

I do, but plan on spending about $2k per kilometer. Plus, it's not incredibly accurate, just masses (but very accurate).

If you still want it, I'll have to wait until I get to my other machine.

mbr if you could that would be great - I mean this would just give me a base so that I can develop it further if need be. But I think that is exactly what I am looking for...do you have an e-mail address so that we can communicate?

your a legend!

I should tell you my site is just east of 75 right by the ohio river if that helps or could narrow it down. In other words it is right by the Reds and Bengals stadiums.

Here's one i cubed, but that's not the one I spoke with. Another, but still not the one Vision Media.

I'll try to remember to get the link when I go back into the office later today. I didn't see Cincinnati, though.

I called the Vision Media guy about the textured model of Dallas. They have a minimum order of 500 bucks and the whole model was 1500 dollars. I'd sure like to have that model, but can't swing that kind of cash with a student budget. Anyone know of any other places that might have less expensive models.

when the other studios were still doing the boston project they just used maps and referenced photographs and sites that had building heights. the physical and 3d models all came out awsome, athough it took them a good while to do it.

$1500 is dirt cheap!! I wonder how accurate that is?

I had a sample model sent to me and it was so so. Good for far away, but not much detail. It wasn't from Vision Media, though. The textured models sound pretty nice, if they look nice.

The one link that I can get in a few minutes, is not free. It's the $2000 per kilometer, or something close. It turned out to be several grand to get a model of Denver, and we passed.

For free, I'd try calling some local architecture schools or trying to track down some students.

Here's the one that sent me a sample: Urban Data.

I think it may be the same as MetroBlocks, though.
