Advice on whether to pursue M.Arch - Sustainable Tall Buildings in Univ. of Nottingham

Javz

Hi everyone..

I'm a recent graduate of B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) - five year professional degree from India.
I'm interested in studying a postgraduate course in architecture or related discipline. I recently came through the University of Nottingham's website. I found a course, M.Arch - Sustainable Tall Buildings.
I had interests in Tall Buildings and since there are more tall buildings being built now and in the future... I think the demand is high!
Can anyone tell me if u know any info about dis course
whether it's worth the money?
good scope??
(Wish to get reply from ppl who had studied dis)

Thank U in advance... !!!!

perhaps if you are interests are in tall buildings, you should study in areas of the world that have them. Nottingham doesn't have any and isn't exactly around the corner from London. What about schools in Chicago, New York... or most of Asia? I would bet that a structured course on tall buildings in Nottingham would be like studying modern urbanism in Sudan. Just something to consider.

As far as the university goes... I know a few people that did their arch diploma there... they seemed pretty smart and did well after uni.

The Nottingham course is affiliated with the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH, which is based in Chicago at IIT) which is a nice organisation mainly comprising Structural Engineers, but increasingly architects and others. I assume that you'd visit the CTBUH conference(s) which will are held in suitably high-rise cities.

Obviously the specialism will limit you to architectural firms that do high-rise buildings, but might also open doors into engineering/cost/project/sustainability consultancies that work in the tall sector. There's a lot of ft2 built

Nottingham is a great campus university, particularly good fun if you are a first-year undergraduate living in halls of residence. I can't vouch for the experience as a graduate student.
