Does anyone know how/where I can find out the prevailing winds in a certain area ( given latt/long coordinates perhaps ) ? Something similiar to rainfall charts....?
the chart you are looking for is called a wind rose. all airports have precise information (ie wind roses) on wind patterns for their area. you can also use a program such as Ecotect from www.square1.com to map and visualize wind patterns along with all other cliamte data.

I remember a chart in a environmental controls course, but it was a photocopy so that doesn't help much. But they do exist!
