Lets share some thoughts on the evolution of the Library as a storehouse of physical information in the past, to what it should be today. Do the demands of today's information-seekers alter the very definition of a Library? Does a library need to be addressed as more of a Media-center than a storehouse of books?
How responsive is the Seattle Public library to today's context? Leaving aside petty criticism about handrails and flooring, what do you think about its bare essence?
Also, are there any other contemporary examples of new interpretations of what a library should be?

certain things about seatle bother me - the main thing being the neverending bookcase concept thing (probably wrong name) which if one reads it properly its just a longer bookcase than is needed in anticipatiuon of extra books commin in and the dewey decimal system set ip in a spiral the shopping/travel type of graphics used are clever and do tap into the who culture of shopping /what is the representative of the sign of the times ect. I think the Idea Stores in london By Adjaye are more interesting though. although the idea of both of these boils down to mediateque v biblioteque or an amalgamation of both which is best argument.

Manu....you should take a look at Will Bruders Libraries in Phoenix and Scottsdale....He has a collection of them in the Valley
