las vegas

joe

well I decided to undertake a big one for my thesis. my site is on the strip, right in the thick of it, and I am trying to get a site visit in order. tickets seem pretty expensive at the moment, but seeing as how las vegas is the mecca for seemingly everything, ha yeah right, but really, do you guys and gals have any info on travel packages and hotels I might look into?

and any other "what should I do in ____" comments are accepted too.
thanks

plan in advance. check out expedia.com. they have lots of package deals. don't stay on the strip. try to go when there are no conventions [if that is possible]. go during the week.

yeah, i am heading there bout the same time, early march, for a bachelor's party for my best friend. i will be marrying him and his soon to be wife back in seattle a few weeks later. i was on line last night looking for some packages for 2 nights on the strip + round trip airfare. pricing was running between $450-650.

depends on where you are...actually southwest has some awesome deals to vegas. I remember seeing a deal from Chicago to vegas for 45$ one-way!
check the southwest website.

southwest doesnt fly out of savannah. cheapest I can find is $360 2-way

I figured I might stay on the strip because its more convienent, but I dont know. I wont have a car either, so might think about a rental since I will be there for a few days. seems like it will be an expensive trip though. much more than I wanted to spend.

i think it also had to do with the timing. my wife was there recently on business and they were finding $80-90 one-way tickets out of seattle. there were hardly any conventions going on there to. now i want to go less than a month later and tickets are more than double that. i also want to go on the weekend too though, and that certainly does not help.

expedia, travelocity etc have great hotel deals with free tokens etc for the casinoes. No point of going to vegas if you dont gamble!

ha, yeah... I'm worried about how much the extras will cost while I'm there... might as well double my expected spendings.

unless you win some. don't do slots. if blackjack, find tables that use just two decks.

if poker is your thing, look for tables with a lot of talking and drinking. having a nice looking woman amongst a group of men is a nice distraction to the game too. if everyone is quiet and focused, avoid the table.

most of all, remember this: fit or fold.
