If people used their real names in this forum it would be nicer

WonderK

People that can't spell or use proper english and/or grammar creep me out. No but really, I use a screen name so I can ignore people if they bother me. Also I don't want people to have my information, unless I give it to them. You can find out a lot about a person these days using just their name....

Hi
You can also find out a lot about others than just those people . I wonder what you would find if one of the early impresionists had used the web for promoting a new art. Wouldn't you mainly find the responses of the settled crowd, all the critics with their interest on safe academic ground blaming these paintings to be no art ? wouldn't you find scientific articles proving that nothing heavier than air would never fly ?

How many in this fora acturly have the guts to use their own name ?

well, I do. I don't hide my name in public conversation, why do it here?

'wouldn't you find scientific articles proving that nothing heavier than air would never fly ?'

is this a double negative?
and weren't there birds back then?

per, you may be a visionary, genius, etc. but typically those that
are either don't have to tell everyone else how brilliant they are...
others just know it.

you have still done nothing to show how your
structures can be built and how any of the theories you espouse
can be proven to be true...or are original for that matter.

i don't disagree with you because i see anything new or futuristic
or anything i don't understand...i disagree with you because i don't
believe what i see of your images, and what i read of your words,
to match. i could say that i've invented a material that defies gravity
thereby making 1000' cantilevers possible..but until i actually am able
to prove that it's possible there will be sceptics.

but, congratulations on getting published.

and i still don't understand how just knowing someone's name
creates a civil, respectful atmosphere all on it's own...i know plenty
of people's names that i don't get along with. and others that
i do get along with..but has nothing to do with their name.

Hi Jasoncross,
Good website , interresting work you make.
Your sentence above is exactly what I mean.
Larslarson :I never said something about need for"civil respectfull atmosphere"
And WoderK :first you try to learn to speak another languagethan than your own .
What I basicly mean and found out here is that the most "brave, and tough" talk here is done by the people who seems to be a little bit to much afraid of their "so called " privacy , or their career . and mostly they are the architect around here and not the other creative professions .
Maybe there is something fundamentaly wrong in the system of the architectural practice ( in the offices etcetera)

"If people used their real names in this forum it would be nicer"

civil, respectful is just my way of saying 'nicer' which i guess is not
what you meant to say? what does nicer mean then?

and saying that most of the people around here that are doing
'brave, and tough' talk are architects....well. this is an architecture
forum. i'd expect that that would be the case since most here are
architects. i don't see the connection you're trying to make. i am an architect, but i also paint, do woodworking, photography, etc.

although a case may be made for anonymity creating people that
may be more willing to speak their mind, i don't see how knowing
someone's real name would really make anything less anonymous.

and i find this whole argument ironic since it was started by someone
with the name 'skunst'

I don't care about real names - I just wish people would actually add information to their profiles. I don't use my real name, but if anyone wanted to they could find me really easily using my profile information, which has my husband's website. And as soon as my partner and I get our website up, I plan to add it too (we don't even have freakin' busines cards yet, jeez).

I used to use my real name on plastic.com. Nothing to hide, I just like the nickname aspect of using a screen name.

ACfA, I certainly never thought you were anything but a Mr.!

my name is Doc Brown. I own an architectural firm with my two partners Marty Mcfly and Einstein. We are very successful because we take the time machine equipped with a flux capacitor into the future to see what design will be a success and then copy it before it can be designed by the original designer.

GREAT SCOTT!!

little of column a, little of column b. it is the unstable nature of my Psyche that allows the abstractness of my thoughts juxtaposed with the mathematically finite solutions i create that make me arguably the greatest architect of all time and space.

This forum would be nicer if:

1. it had the option of a periwinkle background. White's ok. 0099FF is better.

2. it made it so money would come out of my disk drives. Any disk drive would be fine, Paul.

3. it remembered my and my fellow archinectors' birthdays, and let me and others know with multiple emails.

4. it gave backrubs.

5. it displayed my credit card and SSN numbers for others to see.

Any more?
