it does a little of everything you mention+lots of thermal and cliamte stuff. best visualizations of climate conditions around. everything is for a preschematic/schematic phase. you wouldn't do even deisign development with ecotect. its has excellent help/tutorials as well. you can export to energyplus for further work/design. also have a look at deignbuilder+energyplus for a similiar combination of thermal/cliamte tools.

i've messed around with it a bit and like it overall.
Ecotect looked to have some import limitations and no imperial units.

the other products by Square One are interesting -esp. the Weather Tool. all are good for for schematic and analysis presentations.

I've just started using it for a "green" architecture office. They're doing a 8-unit building in Bushwick and I'm doing the energy, ect model for the project. So far it seems pretty intuitive, although I haven't gotten into the thick of it yet.

what about energy-10 and energyplus?
i had some hands-on with energy-10 in uni. it had a pretty easy user-interface.
