yes. email me. I have a contact with an overseas manufacturer that you can get 'samples' of for very little $. I posted info on this before and it started a big debate on authentic vs. knockoff couches. not trying to hear the whiners again.

if you want the real thing . . . find your local Cassina dealer . . . you can get a pretty good architect discount (upwards of 20%). You can also choose official fabrics/leather rather than having a shotty knock off w/ cheap leather.

what is an 'official' fabric? I can spec high grade leather from the overseas manufacturers as well. is it an 'official' piece of furniture now? Are buidlings that use concrete stone-look alike cladding unofficial buildings? come on.

i don't think tboy was attacking you perse..
there are usually obvious differences between 'authentic' pieces of
furniture and 'knock-offs'...some are better than others...but typically
cheaper versions are cheaper because there is some shortcut in
quality...although this isn't always the case...

for example, modernica's eames chairs...they are about half the retail
cost of those from herman miller (although if you're an architect
most herman miller products are 52% off retail meaning you can
buy an eames lounge chair/ottoman for 2000 or so..an Eames
plywood lounge chair for 250 or so..) modernica's quality is very
similar to the herman miller chairs..the only difference comes in
that herman miller is the official manufacturer...modernica has
purchased the same forms and uses the same processes...i believe

other places...like white on white furniture cut corners when it comes
to things like corbu's sofa..removing the lower cushion...etc.

if your product is comparable in every way and is still cheaper
that's great...i bought white on white's knoll sofa because it was
very similar to the original and cost about 1/5 of the price...and i
didn't particularly care that it was original and i needed a nice coach..

but when i bought my eames lounge chair i went direct to herman
miller...cause i just don't think the knockoffs are nearly as nice..

just my 2 cents

There is a difference between following instructions and making something with good craft. I didn't mean to dredge up that other thread, I was just trying to let people know that there can be quite a substantial "architectural personal use" discount on liscensed furniture. It can also be termed as "trade discount"

That's all . ..

As Cameron noted on a different thread:

f*ck treading lightly

impala, do what you want to do but don't call me a whiner to justify it.

I dont know lars...When i was working on Mario Botta's project ..he always used those kind of sofas...I liked them a lot and did some searching..I found out, it was originally corb's design ->

( putting the pieces together)..Botta apprenticed under Corb and Kahn.
he's heavily influenced by them. but who would nt be ?
