well the time has come for me to start doing some diagramming and more in depth analysis for thesis. Which brings me to a dilema. obviously I know where to get digital files for a specific city, but I have situated my research such that I am evaluating the city and all surrounding townad and suburbs. you you guys know of any GIS site or place where I can order/request a more broad digital map of cities with roads and building footprints? I would prefer to not have to go the google earth cut and paste and redraw method because it seems very time consuming and I am am considering multiple metropolitain areas. any insight is greatly appreciated.

I have been looking furthur, but short of contacting each office does anyone know of a nation wide GIS system, or something that might be suitable?
