LA has a long history of planning, dating from the selective application of the Laws of the Indies at its 1781 founding. The fact that 1) some of the planning has gone without implementation, and 2) some of the implemented planning doesn't match what's currently in fashion, has led to the myth of the unplanned city.

Just more sad news for SD. What I hear is that the mayor will actually let her do something good in LA (is that an oxymoron? if so, not for long).
