Yo! I'm here packing my stuff in boxes for an office refurb over Christmas. It makes good closure to an indifferent year. have a good one. See y'all in Jan.
i'm here, and now i'm jealous of steven. great.
hey LB, that's what egg nog is for.
that or Her Majesty's prescription...
i just had an overpriced breakfast burrito and a starbuck's latte because my coffee grinder managed to blow the circuit in the breakroom so i can't make my own espresso and since the main tenant in the building is off today I don't have access to the electrical panels to reset the breaker.
joy.
"In 1750, two days before Christmas, Benjamin Franklin mistakenly attached the apparatus he used for his lightning experiments to himself instead of to his intended victim, a turkey. The jolt knocked him to the floor. We don't know how many turkeys Franklin electrocuted and cooked in his experiments, but he did declare that, when prepared by this method, they were "uncommonly tender." He wrote in his notebook that it took a lot more voltage to kill a turkey than a chicken."
I'm here, but my packed suitcase is under my desk behind me, and I'm boarding a train to NYC right after I leave this evening. There's a few people here, but most of the office is gone.
We're having brand-new computer servers and workstations installed next week (to replace our 8-year-old Windows NT fossils), so some IT people will be around to coordinate things.
(Looking forward to returing to an office not beset by a never-ending parade of fatal error messages, painfully-long regen times, and imcompatible DWG versions. Now if we could only replace some senior management so easily...)
Working here....but most of the morning visiting sites....an even spoke with a potential client, gave him a proposal. Stopped on the way home to pick up some Chestnuts....and Beer....
Just got back from the Bldg Dept - plan check appointment for an addition to our house at 7:30 this morning, yipee!
Actually, stopped by Target on the way back to pick up some wrapping supplies and baby gear...
Going to call the structural engineer to tell her that I love her because we had no structural corrections!
On to present wrapping, and then a nap :-)
Met with subs on site...approved footing/rebar layouts...talked about some J-Lo look-alike who just released a new porn film with aforementioned subs. Sent out checks to same subs, scheduled city inspection for January 4th. Explained to the client why no one in construction likes to work during the Holidays. Turned off cell phone.
Thanks jeffe, I just finished off the eggnog last night virgin, but I'll be hitting the grocery store on the way home and breaking out the rum upon hitting the door!
christmas is like valentine's day here, couples all over the place and the love hotels are taking in cash hand over fist. it is unfortunately not a holiday for anyone...
so, is a regular work day for me. site visit in an hour, then back to office and a day of drafting/design. fun. still have to be santa tonight though and will take christmas off...just wouldn't be right otherwise ;-)
head to the country for the new year holiday but deadline approaching so will take work with me. in-laws will be happy.
Working for humanity doesn't count, since you are motivated by knowing you have done something for the world. Fighting with a lighting rep over improperly assembled luminaires for the bratty super-rich on the other hand... hard to do on December 23.
Just joshing. Remember - only 15 shopping days until Orthodox Christmas.
And I'm here til 5 too. And later all week - cabinet drawings are due Friday if the casework is to be done Feb 1, as the client is requesting. Oh well, keeps me away from the holiday sales which is good!
I actually like working when no one is in the office (and when you feel no one else is working). It is almost zen-like.
-Good Traffic to work
-Play your music as loud as you want
-Lunch as long as you want
-And no interruptions.
23 Dec - Who's at work today
I know it's still early, but I'm the only one here and it's kinda spooky.
I'm here along with a handful of others; about half of the office will be in today.
no one is here yet... but it is early... now back to the model...
We're all here today. But the whole office is closed all of next week.
I'm in, and will be in most next week proportional to how much time my visiting mother-in-law wants to spend hanging out at my house.
Im here.....but my office is closed all of next week, so it isn't bad. OUr office is buying us lunch today too!

Ha! For the first time I'm not here!

Just work by my lonesome

that mental picture has officialy depressed me
