NPR, NEA and PBS funding in jeopardy

sc

An email I received this morning spoke of NPR, the National Endowment for the Arts and PBS in jeopardy if the supreme court supports a congressional move.
My understanding has been that these organizations and their funding is constantly in limbo, and while I support email petitions in such instances, is this really all that can be done to support these groups.

i am curious if there has been recent discussion of these groups folding that I am not aware of.

assuming you received this email, it is not only completely bogus, but also nearly 10 years old. see NPRs own press release.

email petitions should not be distributed without first checking the veracity of the claims! they live forever.

They are also in danger, because NPR is running their pledge drive quarterly, and annoying the living hell out of people who would rather have it once a year and not have their programming interrupted every few months by some no-name-thinks-they-are-a-celebrity announcer cutting into Fresh Air or morning programming. THEY DON'T WANT IT!
They are annoyed because they feel hounded by beggars.

this seems to come up every four years. remember when newty wanted to eliminate NPR all-together? BTW, how exactly does the supreme court "support" a congressional "move?"

What is the congressional move?
This is not surprising considering the ultimate goal of massive tax cuts is to starve the government into eliminating "non-essential" programs.

Losing PBS would be a shame - it's been a source of education (WTTW) for as long as I can remember...If NPR din't have such a leftist slant I'd be concerned for its future...what ever happened to that station?
