Material Architecture, First Edition : Emergent Materials for Innovative Buildings and Ecological Construction by John Fernandez.
Fernandez (a professor at MIT) ran a symposium on materials at this year's Build Boston, and from what he showed us of his book, it seems to be a good reference for materials in general. Very data-based (stress/strain diagrams, etc.) but nothing overly complex.
books for materials
wondering if anyone can suggest good books for exterior materials? Thanks.
practically wrote the book on metal surfaces. Oh wait... he did.
But seriously folks, I have this book sitting in front of me and it is a great resource. It is textbooky and can probably be found at the library.
Modern Construction Facades by Andrew Watts is pretty good & importantly is quite up to date.
