Interchangeable Architecture

iwish

I am in the process of doing some research for a new healthcare project. I am looking for some examples of buildings that have interchangable parts, if such a thing exists. I have seen many projects that incorporate cargo containers (Jones and Partners, LoT/EK, ect.), and that is sort of what I am looking for. We are trying to come up with a diagnostic "pod" that can be taken from an urban hospital and conected to rural center.
thanks

A lot has been done with modular design in healthcare. A good starting place might be Stephen Verderber and David Fine's book "Healthcare Architecture in an Era of Radical Transformation" http://yalepress.yale.edu/yupbooks/viewbook.asp?isbn=0300078390

Also, Jan Delrue and Herman Neuckermann of K.U.Leuven have done a lot of research into rationalization of health-care facility design in the context of CADD and in planning for development with limited resources. http://www.kuleuven.ac.be/research/researchdatabase/researchteam/50000543.htm

Thanks for the information. I just ordered the book, but I am not sure how to find information on the research project. It sounds like what I am looking for, but I don't see where it is published.
