I am curious about peoples thoughts on the two programs, pros/cons, and reputations they have. Does anyone know the approximate size size of the students admitted every year?
DRL was growing every year but now seems to capped at around 70, EmTech is similar, bur probably closer to 60. The reputations are what they are for a reason, many grads from these progrsams go on to work at Zaha, Fosters etc... but it really all depends on what you want to do with your career. Both are very intense and force you to approach design and architecture in a totally different way from 'practical' design programs. DRL is more about creating form and design process, whereas Emtech addresses things like structure which adds an extra level of depth in my opinion. The culture in both programs is amazing, as is the whole AA, but its pretty impossible to describe. my advise would be to plan a trip and meet with the directors and students... but either way make sure you know what you are getting yourself into....
