re:authenticity..ok how about this...the more 'digital' the more authenticity is a matter of protection, of ideally an uncrackable code. it is no longer of the protected substance, but the
protecting envelope/cypher. authenticity is tantamount to impenetrability, a matter of organized security . the idealized war between authenticity and its unravelling is that waged against and by hackers and viruses (my friend found around 200 in her laptop...so she says). and so i think that the importance of authenticity is actually much more important now than ever b4, because the patent-ie recognized creation- (in the form of a more and more 'intelligent' virus) is its own challenge. it is wrong to say authenticity was more b4, the language of authenticity develops and changes. compare to ancient greek plays...they would have sued each other nowadays for such thematic simultaneity.
