centria or other metal wall panels - ?

gruen

any experience detailing centria (or other insulated metal wall panels)?

I've got some wacky ideas & not much experience with higher end metal walls.

Looking for neato ways to trim/detail out the windows, corners, base. Does Centria supply the metal trim, or do you get a local shop to custom fabricate? How about matching finish - if custom?

Have you ever done something non- standard that is interesting & you want to share?

I'm interested in matching up 3 different panel widths (same panel, different reveals and widths) to do a patchwork facade. Want to bring this patchwork together in the windows / window trim details. Want to do irregular width metal trim around the windows.

I dont' think this is too strange, but again, don't have a lot of experience detailing metal panels (lots detailing "heavy metal".) =)

Can you share details?

centria has a lot of standard details that you can start with right on their web page

for instance,

[http://www.centria.com/portal/shareddocs/5DJG0YU8PAOAII2X/DKULPRENHDL9THDN/KPQ62RKHFYWWBS7Y/57PX4FEVCRLPOTAY/CS-6000.pdf]head detail for opening (concept series horiz[/url]

this is a non-insulated panel

but these are warrantied standard details,

you should most likely contact the local rep after youve nailed something down to discuss the assembly

i think this will get you going

=) thanks. I've been poking away at their details. Have you detailed this stuff out? Do you do custom metal at edges/corners, or use Centria's sections?

I'll get ahold of my rep I guess. They'll love to hear from me, make their lunch n learn worthwhile.

Um...your door has nothing to do with what I asked about. Is this a 'clever' way to 'advertise' your product?

Yes, actually, now I will never, ever use your doors Jonkman. I don't care if they are the best door in the universe.

Um...I think when you said:

"..working with the site to get advertising on here.."

you mean:

"..working on putting a lot of spam on this site."

well actually no, we are in contact with a Nicole Schiller with the communications dept.

It is often hard to think in different terms other then your work, but marketing does create demand, I am not sure if you are in business yourself. If you had a business mind a different response would likely have been formulated.

Enough said, I have work to carry on with. Enjoy your day.

jonk, i have a business as many other folks here, but we are not relentlessly trying to push our offerings down the throats of others. no one likes walking into a store and being molested by a car salesman.

E, I appreciate your position. I assure you that this is nothing more then to test this site for it's traffic they are marketing to us(yes they are in it to make money) about it's membership and the people who traffic it. I receive countless firms soliciting us on the potential of their sites. This being one of them. But I agree on the car sales thing.

"It is often hard to think in different terms other then your work, but marketing does create demand, I am not sure if you are in business yourself. If you had a business mind a different response would likely have been formulated."

this is the most stupid thing I've heard all day, perhaps all week.

my whole point is trying to think outside of the box that centria's put around their product in their details. I got some good answers from folks on that.

why would you think a door would have anything to do with wall panels? why would you think I even have SPACE for such a product, much less a need? why do you think my mind is one way or another?

so having a 'business' mind means I'm open to commercial spam? sure, bring on the viagra and such junk.

i think you might have better response by ppl if you came a across a little less forcefully. when ppl hear you pushing your product in every single thread you participate in, it gets old. very quickly. ppl might have a different response to you if they felt you were first, interested in contributing and expanding to the culture of this site, and second, were a business owner that had some relevancy to the ppl on this site. right now ppl only hear the latter, and ppl are less concerned about the latter.

Jonkman,
Your product seems interesting.
However, before you accuse others of insufficient business knowledge, you may want to reconsider your decision to test marketing response by pissing off your potential clients. Be creative for chrissakes.

el, I should explain that I do see some sites as being nothing more then a place for people to waste the work day chatting about nothing. For instance, several posted topics have nothing to do with arch. at all and seem to get thousands of hits. I was not here to offend, but to get some response. I have received both negative and positive. It happens in every aspect of life. Some people are offended by promotion while others take it in stride. What is the most ironic part is that most people hope that their company or the one they work for does not go out of business due to a lack of sales. Passive sales are for established consumed goods, I have built several companies from zero sales in a marketplace to 5 million or more. I have an understanding of sales and marketing and get paid for the drive I bring. But I do agree with you in many ways and do not mean anything with a disrespectful tone.

you must find out first whether they can replicate your custom metal edges, it may be cheaper to do it through one manuf. and who knows they might have some ideas up thier sleeves too.

if you go custom, well, follow the above advice regarding contacting rep, gc will coordinate scheduling and phasing of work and must provide shop dwgs and other submittals showing integration of assemblies, misc metal will show panels as by others planels will show misc metals as by others

make sure it gels though

check with rep, most companies will tell you straight up if they can or cant do you detail before you decide to break up the assembly,

its touchy
