Design Build Firms

ReflexiveSpace

I've been looking into smaller design/build firms (not big architectural/engineering firms but firms like http://www.buildllc.com or http://www.marmol-radziner.com ). I'd like a balance of being in an office and actually building something. Unfortunately its nearly impossible to find people doing this type of work except by randomly running across them online or finding out through word of mouth. If anyone knows of other firms like these or has general comments on this topic that would be interesting too.

KRDB (http://www.krdb.com/) is a nice design/build firm located out of Austin. They have a nice modern style and focus on low cost housing. I think I saw their work in dwell a while back.

there is an association called the Design-Build Institute of America...their website is www.dbia.org
It has a gigantic list to start from though you have to be a member to get to it.

Check out Yestermorrow/Design Build School in Warren Vermont. They are good about giving out information regarding D/B and have a bunch of contacts.
