what is the best way to place an underlay in max? ive been doing it as a material on a plane, but its too blurry to see...i think im doing something wrong...
Go to Views|Viewport Background, and specify an image file to use as an underlay. You can also play with the aspect ratio (set it to Match Bitmap) and locking the zooming and panning. Then trace away to your hearts content...
That's not gonna help you. The image is blurry because the texture size size is set to too low. Go to your OpenGL or DirectX settings in Max and specify a larger size. Set the "Match Bitmap As Close As Possible" as well. Then Reload the Image
